Information

  • For youth ages 8 to 14.
  • Writing activities and games designed to stimulate imagination and teach effective writing strategies.
  • Morning, afternoon and full day sessions available.
  • Participants are grouped with others in the same age and experience range.
  • Daily schedule includes writing instruction, games, snack, and sharing.
  • Campers design and publish their own books.
  • Parents and friends are invited to listen to participants share their writing on the last day of camp.
  • Scholarships are available for low income campers.

2017 Sessions

Session One
June 12-16 Flight (full day 9 am - 3 pm)
Very limited enrollment for this session
Write an adventure about balloon, airplane or space travel. Try different kinds of poems from free verse to rhyme. Take a field trip to Hiller Aviation Museum in San Carlos.
Camp location: Roosevelt School, 2223 Vera Ave., Redwood City

Session Two
June 19-23 Flight (full day 9 am - 3 pm)

Session Three
June 26-30 Mystery Writing (morning 9 am - noon)
Learn how to plant clues and create suspense in developing a mystery plot. Experiment with poem formats including list poems and riddles.
Camp location: Unitarian Universalist Church, 2124 Brewster Ave., Redwood City

Session Four
July 10-14 Flight (full day 9 am - 3 pm)
